Hyperpigmentation and Acne – DIY Masks!

There are a lot of remedies that have been tried and tested at home. Choosing the right one for you can be a daunting task. We all go through it. But it is always worth it. Here, I have compiled a small list.
Before I get to the list, I would like to tell you guys that “exfoliation” is a very important routine that you need to follow when you try any DIY recipes. And the best exfoliant for any skin would be sugar mixed with any carrier oils like olive, grapeseed or coconut oil. Salt is also an option but it is slightly abrasive and so I am not normally comfortable using it on the face. So lets get to my humble list..

1) Vitamin C and Turmeric pack
I personally love this mask. I take two regular Vitamin C tablets (those round orange colored ones) and crush it. To this, I add Multani Mitti (Fuller’s Earth), a quarter spoon turmeric and mix it with aloe vera gel. Here, you could also use milk or honey. It gives amazing results and you will see the difference after the very first use.

2) Apple Cider Vinegar and Honey
Mix equal amounts of ACV and Honey (I use I tbsp as I find it sufficient) and apply it directly on the spots, leave it on for 15 mins and then wash off. This can also be used on the full face but then keep it on no more than 10 mins.

3) Potato juice and Lemon
A very potent mixture. Simply grate a potato and squeeze the juice (or you can take a small piece and grind it till you achieve a liquid like consistency. This is to minimize wastage) and squeeze half a lemon into it. Apply it directly on the spots and leave it on for 20 mins.
A small advice: Any mask which involves lemon, is best suited during the evening time inorder to avoid sun exposure. It could irritate the skin.

4) Kumkumadi or Safforn oil
This is not an item we normally tend to stock but mark my word, one must. It stands true to its hype. Take adequate amount of turmeric and to it add few drops of Kumkumadi oil and a bit of Aloe gel. Mix it together to achieve a paste like consistency. Leave it on for 20 mins and wash off. Here, I feel it is best to apply this over the entire face…you will love the glow.

5) Manjishta powder and Honey
This is a very widely known herb in Ayurvedic remedies. It is easily available online. Take one spoonful of the powder and mix it with adequate amount of Honey to make it into a thick past and apply it to the face, leave it for 20-30 minutes and wash off.

6) Masoor Dal (Red Lentil)
This is the best for stubborn pigmentation. You could powder the dal and mix it with honey. You could try the dal powder with other substances like sandalwood powder, red sandalwood powder or orange-peel powder. You won’t regret this one!

There are some more that I want to share but guess will keep it for a later post. Till then hope you love the glow
